If you’ve got Vista and you’ve suddenly found yourself staring at a bunch of available updates, you may be feeling that you don’t want them all. I certainly didn’t want all of the language offerings.
But what to do? You don’t want the system reminding you that there are still updates available. Thankfully, you can hide them. Right-click on an entry and you will see the Hide option. If you see the admin shield against it, it means you will need admin rights so be prepared for the UAC prompt!
Thankfully, once you’ve got the admin rights, you keep them, so you only get the UAC prompt once. You can then hide all of the other unwanted updates without further prompting.
If you want to get the updates back again, you’ll find an Unhide option on the left hand side of the Windows Updates window.
