I’m trying out some of the features in Vista and I started up Windows Photo Gallery. A message appears:
An update to Windows Photo Gallery is available
If you download this update, you can see additional types of pictures (such as your camera’s RAW files) in Photo Gallery.
Clicking on the Download button ends up taking me to the Windows File Association site, specifically to the page for the .cr2 (Canon RAW) filetype. There is a link to Canon on the page, but clicking on that link takes me to a page that says:
COMING SOON
A codec for this file type will be available for download soon.
So why does Photo Gallery think there is an update, but there doesn’t seem to be one?

Me too. Takes me to Canon (which I did use, by the way). Still can’t find Windows Photo Gallery update, though.
Went to Cannon and installed raw codec, now the file has an icon but Photo Gallery still cant play and sends me to Cannon.
