A few weeks ago, there was
a report about Microsoft enforcing volume license keys for Vista and Longhorn.
Recently, there have been fresh announcements about Virtual PC 2004 being freely available, to be followed by Virtual PC 2007. Added to that, if you have Vista Enterprise Edition, you will be able run up to 5 copies of Windows without needing to buy any further licences.
So here is the thing: if Microsoft are enforcing reporting of licence key usage, how will they differentiate between a copy of Vista running on real hardware and a copy of Vista running on virtual hardware?
