CRN are reporting that with the release of Vista and Longhorn, VLK customers will be required to register their volume license keys within 30 days of acquisition and report their license usage on a monthly basis.
I think that there is going to be some pain around this … I’m sure that there are quite a few companies that use lab-copies of the OSes for test purposes without paying for the licenses, so this runs the risk of hurting them.
Does Microsoft not trust the VLK customers to provide accurate figures for the annual true-up process?
